New chances with the Sustainable Development Goals Partnership Facility!

SDGP

Introducing the SDGP

On May 28, the Dutch Sustainable Development Goals Partnership Facility (SDGP) was launched by executive agency RVO. With the SDGP, successor of the Facility for Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Food Security (FDOV), the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs aims to help achieve the following Sustainable Development Goals in developing countries:

  • SDG 2 (ending hunger)
  • SDG 8 (decent jobs and economic growth)
  • SDG 17 (partnerships for the goals)

Themes of the 2018 call

As of this moment, two SDGP calls have been announced for 2018 and 2019. In the first call (budget €35 million), PPPs can submit project proposals within one of the following themes:

  • Efficient value chains
  • Nutrition value
  • Circular economy – agri-sector
  • Better work and income for youth and women

Generally speaking, the SDGP will follow the same rules and procedures as its predecessor FDOV. Its policy framework is also comparable with the framework of the Sustainable Water Fund.

Partnership requirements

The SDGP will work through subsidy tenders for public-private partnerships (PPP). A PPP must consist of a maximum of six partners, including one Dutch organisation, one local organisation, one NGO and/or knowledge institution, one company and one (local) government organization. A PPP can apply for a subsidy of at least €500,000 and at most €3 million per project. If the application is successful, the SDGP will contribute up to 50% of project finance.

Application process

The SDGP application process builds on a two-stage approach:

  • Applicants first submit a concept note (deadline first call: 1 October 2018), on which they will receive follow-up advice from an RVO advisor.
  • Applicants then submit a full proposal (deadline first call: 17 December 2018).

Our expertise

Developing a high-quality concept note and full proposal for funds such as the SDGP is a fun, but intensive and bulky task. Taking into account the summer holidays, the deadline for concept note submission is approaching fast. Hence, if you consider submitting a SDGP concept note for the 2018 call, it is important to act soon!
