The HER+ focuses on research, development,and demonstration of innovations that save CO2 cost-effectively. Compared to HER, the focus of HER+ has shifted from operational cost savings of renewable energy generation, to CO2 reduction. HER+ is applicable to a wider variety of technologies, such as heat, storage and conversion, and CCS projects. In addition, projects that lie beyond the scope of SDE++ can also qualify for the HER+.

Balanced partnership with at least one entrepreneur
Terms and Conditions
- Pilot ¹ or demonstration project s² (TRL 6 to 8), possibly supplemented with experimental development (TRL 4 and 5).
- The project’s savings with regard to the SDE++ must be greater than the grant applied for.
- Demonstration projects that are larger than strictly necessary for the practical demonstration of an innovation, are not eligible.
- Production machines for energy savings or renewable energy products are not eligible.
- Projects subject to the biofuel admixture obligation are not eligible.
Criteria
- Making Dutch energy production more sustainable by 2030.
- Grant rate: Depending on the type of activities, between 25% and 50%.
- Technical and economical feasibility.
- Proposal quality (approach, methodology, risk management, feasibility, consortium, dissemination of knowledge).
- HER: Reference cost reduction SDE++
Grant
- Maximum grant amount: €6 million
- Grant rate: Depending on the type of activities, between 25% and 50%.
- Total grant budget: €30 million
- Maximum duration 4 year
- Applications are processed in accordance with the first-come-first-serve principle
