On 17 May a new round for project proposals is expected to open within LIFE, the only European funding programme that focusses entirely on climate, nature, circular economy, and energy. This year, a total of about 770 million euros is available for organisations that want to bring European environmental policy forward. Evers+Manders Grant Consultants has extensive experience in bringing together various parties, developing a plan of action and preparing applications, and we are keen to help you do so.
LIFE is a large European programme with an average of 770 million euros of funding available per year. In terms of content, LIFE is still looking for pilot and demonstration projects that offer solutions to environmental problems that are widespread across Europe. More specifically, LIFE funds projects that further develop or put into practice European environmental policy, such as the Green Deal or the biodiversity strategy, in the following areas:
- Nature and biodiversity
- Circular economy and quality of life
- Climate mitigation and adaptation
- Renewable energy transition
On average, the contribution from the European Commission to a standard LIFE project is € 1-3 million. A maximum of 60% of eligible costs is funded (for certain nature projects, this can even be higher at 75%). A LIFE project has an average project duration of 3-5 years and, unlike many other European programmes, (international) cooperation is not obligatory.
Setting up a LIFE project and preparing the grant proposal is both complex and time-consuming. Evers+Manders Grant Consultants can help you increase the chances of a successful application. We have extensive experience and expertise in developing your project idea into a successful LIFE grant proposal.
The Route to a LIFE Grant Proposal
All LIFE calls for proposals 2022 are expected to be published on the EU’s Funding & Tendering Opportunities portal on 17 May. The deadline for most standard projects is 4 October 2022. For energy transition projects, the deadline is 16 November 2022. For the so-called Strategic Integrated Projects (SIPs) and Strategic Nature Projects (SNAPs), pre-proposals must be submitted by 8 September 2022, and the full proposal by 7 March 2023.
