Are you looking to collaborate with (inter)national colleagues or companies while enhancing training possibilities for your students? Would you like to jointly train PhD students on skills and international experience so they will have lots of opportunities for professional development, within ánd outside academia? Pursue an innovative and applied research program with collaborators all across Europe?
The very last deadline for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Networks (MSCA-ITN) was at January 14th 2020. This competitive but very generous program is part of Horizon2020, that will finish thisyear. While the Marie Skłodowska-Curie program will continue in Horizon Europe from 2021 onwards, it is as yet unclear how exactly it will be filled the coming year.
Focus on training
Many researchers mistake the ITN for a “regular” research consortium and add the training of PhD students as an extra feature. This is the wrong strategy: The international training with strong links to industry is the main relevant feature, the ground-breaking science comes second. So the trick is to think from a training perspective and create a consortium that has the potential to train multi-disciplinary researchers that will then guide the way to new scientific breakthroughs.
This way, European trainees, supervisors, universities, and science as a whole will all benefit!
Structuring an effective and convincing ITN proposal requires a lot of planning and preparation. It is an extremely competitive program, so background knowledge and strategic help can really make a big difference to make your proposal competitive.
We at Evers + Manders have years of experience in supporting researchers with this endeavour. We have developed a step-by-step protocol to support our clients in their decision making process while writing a Marie Curie grant proposal. Using our protocol you can easily and quickly determine whether your ideas fit the program and which of the sub-programs fit you best. Once you have decided to start writing an application, our protocol will guide you towards developing and writing a proposal that will fit all MSCA-ITN
